Happy Anniversary!

Today Mike and I celebrate 9 years of marriage! I can't believe it's been that long, it's gone so fast. Mike, you'd better make sure you've started saving for the big cruise next year I'm looking forward to a quiet dinner out!

I got out our wedding album this morning and reminisced about OUR day...our prayer...
Col. 2:2-3 "...that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

Here are a few pics I scanned into the computer - not the greatest quality but they'll do.

Mike,
Thank you for 9 great years! I'm so glad we said "I do!" I love your servants heart and I appreciate all that you do to bless me as your partner. Thank you for being understanding, patient, and kind. (I know that's not always easy with me and all we have faced these last 2 1/2 years) I see you striving to be more Christ-like and I'm so grateful for your leadership as we raise our family. I love you, and I hope we have many more years to celebrate together!
Love,
Me

Weekend fun!

Grandma came this way for a few days when the doc told us our girl would not have a heartbeat by Friday...well, when her heart WAS still beating we decided to take advantage of our time together. The boys had fun with paint...and we had fun with a little paint ourselves. We 3 girls went for a relaxing pedicure :)
The boys painted pictures... We enjoyed Trent's soccer...
But, Drew's game was rained out...

Hope Clinic Banquet

Many of you prayed for Jen and I last Thursday. I thought I'd share a little bit about that night. We estimated there were about 240 people in attendance, and from our conversations with the men and women afterwords there was quite a mix of people (yes, including the Amish family that came up to share about the 3 sons they had lost). I wished somehow we could have presented the gospel more clearly, although, Mike assured me that people could not deny hearing the different ways we shared about having a personal relationship with Christ that night...NOT a religion, but a relationship. I do pray that Noah and Owen's lives continue to speak to the hearts of those that heard that night. He is truly the God of the Calm and the Storm. I have to say I could totally feel your prayers, as I was speaking, the words seemed to flow more as in a conversation and less rehearsed and read (which I wasn't sure would happen considering all that is heavy on my heart about baby #4). I looked down to see steady hands-not the trembling fingers and knocking knees- as I turned page after page...I guess by the 5th time around I'm getting more comfortable in front of a crowd. Can I just say - GRACE of GOD. I do have to say it was nice to see some familiar faces. My good friends parents, one of Mike's co-workers, and even a mom I met at support group almost 2 1/2 years ago.
Thanks again for your prayers...I look forward to seeing/meeting the lives touched by our boys when we reach heaven.

Feelin' crafty

I've made a couple nursing covers for friends, and they are so neat. I first saw them here. My friends have said they are very handy. I googled some instructions and they were fairly easy to follow. I just finished another one. I know some of my far away friends are expecting and I wanted to pass on the instructions I found from another blog in case you might feel inspired, but when I went to place the link it must have been deleted from the archives...AHHH! I'll work on it! For now here's what mine looks like.

I also tried my hand at felting. I picked up an old wool sweater from Goodwill and felted it. (I did find out that it needs to be at least 80% wool to felt. Wash it on hot with a couple of tablespoons of dish soap - not laundry detergent!) I found the basic idea here, and sewed on a few pockets, a couple free hand flowers, and a cute button. Here's how it turned out.

New Ventures...

It's been six years since I've worked outside of the home, but starting Monday I'll be working part time at a local YMCA. I'm excited to be working with school age kids again. No lesson plans, just hanging out - helping with homework - and creatively channeling their energy!! This job will allow me to bring Trent and Drew with me. I'm very grateful for this, as I'm well aware of the preciousness of the time I have to spend with them. I'm also ready to take full advantage of a family membership to work out regularly!! Let the fun begin...

I also got a call from the doctor about some blood work that came back abnormal. I was actually really surprised by this, it kind of hit me from out of the blue. Evidently my thyroid is not really functioning anymore. Not sure as to the reason, but i guess its not that uncommon in women. It can be hereditary, though, I don't know of any one in my family who has similar problems. I tell ya, I hit thirty and I'm fallin' apart! The doctor says once function is lost, it doesn't just come back, so I've begun a life long regimen of a thyroid hormone. Thankfully it's affordable, and nothing more serious. Now we just wait for a few weeks for it to "kick in." Hopefully I'll notice a big difference in my energy level. I've been quite tired lately.

A week in pictures

Drew had a buddy over to play and they just had a blast playing and swinging together! Their laughter was contagious.

Mike took Trent to Indy to tour the new Colts stadium. Male Bonding stuff :)
Chillin' in the end zone! "Hoosier Dungy?"

A couple of my friends took me out for my big 3-0 and celebrated with a girls night at Coldstone.

Taking advantage of a hot day at the pool! The boys played and played. They really thought they were big stuff jumping into the pool. Trent saw two other boys from his Kindergarten class that afternoon and they had splash! I was watching Trent and the boys all jump in together. One time I almost choked when I saw Trent do a flip into the water. AGHHH!!! I couldn't believe that he was brave enough to attempt that. It was quite good, just not in 4 ft. of water. We'll have to save that for the diving board!

"Cannon Ball!" (Almost, Trent, but at least you're smiling.)

...buy me some PEANUTS and cracker jacks...

Mike and I took Trent to his first Tigers game at Comerica Park. It was our special outing one-on-one before school begins. Trent really had fun , well except for the car ride. Drew stayed overnight with some friends, and he had a blast too. When we got to our seats Trent told us he was SO hungry, but really just couldn't wait to get some peanuts. He was content with that snack the whole game. When I buckled him in the car to go home, he said, "Thanks for taking me to a Tigers game. So, we can come again next year?"

Proof I was there too. The photographer always gets the shaft.
Excited or what?

After the game we got to walk on the field and Trent ran the bases. It was definately a highlight. He's rounding second base with Mike following behind wearing #28.

Walking back to the car swinging his new bat.
